Terms of service
This page explains the terms and conditions for the Shopify application "Mysbox ‑ Mystery Box Builder" (the "App", also referred to as "Mysbox"), a product developed and operated by Koin, a child brand of Qikify. Throughout this document, the terms "we", "us", and "our" refer to Koin (operated by Qikify), and the terms "App", "product", and "solution" refer to the Mysbox app; while "user", "you", and "your" refer to you, the person or entity accessing this website and using our product.
By installing the Mysbox ‑ Mystery Box Builder app from the Shopify App Store, you agree to use our product and its services and to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (the "Terms"). If you are using the App on behalf of a business or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms, in which case "you" refers to that entity. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App.
1. The services
Mysbox ‑ Mystery Box Builder is a Shopify application that enables merchants to create and sell mystery boxes and mystery bundles in their online store, including features such as configurable box contents and probabilities, online unboxing experiences and animations, analytics, and integrations with the Shopify platform and companion applications.
We may, at our discretion, add, modify, or remove features of the App from time to time. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes that adversely affect your use of the App.
2. Eligibility and account
To use the App, you must have a valid Shopify account and store in good standing, and you must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Subscription, fees, and billing
The App is offered on a free plan and on paid subscription plans as described in our Shopify App Store listing. Paid plans may include recurring subscription fees and usage-based fees, as set out in the applicable plan description.
All fees are billed through the Shopify billing system and are subject to Shopify's payment terms. Except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise, all fees are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, downgrades, or unused features. We may change our fees or plans from time to time; price changes apply from your next billing cycle after reasonable notice. You are responsible for all applicable taxes other than taxes on our net income.
4. How Mysbox works — probability and unboxing
Probability Mechanism
The probability, referred to as "Chance" in the App settings, refers to the chance of receiving a specific item that is created and included in a mystery box built with Mysbox. The "Chance" is created and calculated once a mystery box is created and activated.
The original probability ("Chance") assigned to each item within a mystery box is determined based on the current inventory of that item at the time the box is created and activated. This initial probability shall be preserved and displayed publicly on the user's storefront for transparency during the sales process. However, the probability may be adjusted internally via the application's back-end should inventory levels fluctuate due to item sales, ensuring that subsequent calculations remain accurate and reflect real-time stock availability. This displayed probability may also be updated on the storefront if the user deactivates the active mystery box, modifies the inventory, and reactivates the box thereafter.
Post-purchase unboxing logic
Upon the buyer initiating the unboxing process, the system employs the Mersenne Twister algorithm — a widely recognized pseudorandom number generator — to produce a random integer within the range of 1 to 10.
For example, suppose you have a mystery box product including 3 items A, B, and C. Assuming the total quantity of this mystery box is 10 boxes, each item's inventory contributes to the total preset mystery box inventory and is presented as follows:
- Item A has 3 units in stock
- Item B has 2 units in stock
- Item C has 5 units in stock
Based on the Mersenne Twister algorithm, each linked item is assigned a set of random numbers:
- Item A has 3 items, so the random numbers are 1, 2, 3
- Item B has 2 items, so the random numbers are 4, 5
- Item C has 5 items, so the random numbers are 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
These values are then used to determine the item the buyer receives from the mystery box, based on the calculated probability ("Chance") of each item. Once an item has been selected from the mystery box, the system automatically decreases that item's available stock by one unit. It then recalibrates the numbering assignment for the remaining items based on their updated quantities. With this refreshed configuration, the random selection is executed again to ensure fairness in subsequent item allocations.

5. Legal and usage boundaries (disclaimer)
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Mysbox app complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including — but not limited to — those related to gambling, chance-based promotions, lotteries, prize promotions, and consumer protection. Laws governing randomized or chance-based commerce vary significantly by jurisdiction, and some jurisdictions restrict or prohibit certain mechanics. We do not provide legal advice, and nothing in the App or these Terms constitutes legal advice.
This application is not designed or intended to function as a gambling platform. Mysbox must not be used in any manner that constitutes, or could reasonably be interpreted as, a gambling activity. This includes — but is not limited to — offering random chance-based rewards with monetary stakes, or configuring mystery boxes in ways that simulate betting or games of chance.
Koin (a child brand of Qikify) disclaims all liability and responsibility arising from any user's unlawful, unauthorized, or non-compliant use of the App. Users who implement such configurations or engage in such practices do so at their own risk and may be subject to legal consequences in their jurisdiction.
6. Acceptable use, misuse, and suspension
You agree to use the Mysbox app in full compliance with these Terms, all applicable laws — including local, national, and international regulations — and Shopify's Acceptable Use Policy.
You further agree not to, and not to permit any third party to: use the App for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading purpose, including misrepresenting box odds or contents; use the App to sell products that are illegal or that violate the Shopify Acceptable Use Policy; reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except as permitted by law; interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or related systems; resell, sublicense, or make the App available to any third party except as expressly permitted by these Terms; or transmit malicious code or infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person.
Any use of the App that is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or in breach of Shopify's acceptable use policies may lead to immediate suspension of the user's active mystery boxes, without prior warning. Koin reserves the sole right to investigate any suspected misuse or non-compliance. If deemed necessary, we may temporarily or permanently disable access to certain features, products ("mystery boxes"), or the App itself.
You hereby acknowledge that Koin assumes no liability for losses, disruptions, or consequences resulting from enforcement actions taken in response to illegal use, policy violations, or misconduct.
7. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for: your store, the products you sell, and the mystery boxes and offers you create using the App, including their contents, pricing, probabilities, descriptions, and marketing; fulfilling all orders placed by your customers, honoring the items revealed through the unboxing experience, and handling all customer service, returns, refunds, and disputes with your customers; providing your customers with accurate information about the mystery boxes you sell, including any disclosures required by applicable law; complying with the Shopify Terms of Service, the Shopify Acceptable Use Policy, and all other agreements between you and Shopify; and obtaining all rights, consents, and permissions necessary for us to process the data you and your customers provide through the App, and providing any privacy notices to your customers required by applicable law.
8. Intellectual property
The App, including all software, designs, animations, text, graphics, and logos provided by us (excluding Your Data, as defined below), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App in connection with your Shopify store for the duration of your subscription. You may not use our name, logos, or trademarks without our prior written consent, except to accurately identify the App as installed in your store.
If you provide us with feedback or suggestions about the App, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use them without restriction or compensation.
9. Your data
"Your Data" means the data you or your customers submit to or generate through the App, including store information, product data, box configurations, order data, and customer information. As between you and us, you retain all rights in Your Data. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, display, and use Your Data solely as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the App, and as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy.
We process the personal information of your customers as your data processor, in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws. You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that Your Data does not violate any law or the rights of any third party. Upon uninstallation of the App, we will retain and delete Your Data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Shopify's requirements.
10. Third-party services
The App operates on the Shopify platform and may interact with third-party services, applications, or integrations that you enable (for example, Shopify Flow, Shopify Checkout, customer accounts, or companion apps such as Koin Store Credit & Cashback). Your use of third-party services is governed by the terms and privacy policies of those third parties, and we are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or how they use your data.
11. Availability, support, and modifications
We will use commercially reasonable efforts to keep the App available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including failures of the Shopify platform or third-party providers. Support is provided through the channels and at the service levels described in your plan. We may update, modify, or discontinue the App (in whole or in part) at any time; if we discontinue it entirely, we will use reasonable efforts to provide advance notice.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, OR BE ERROR-FREE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE MAKE NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY THAT YOUR USE OF MYSTERY BOX OR RANDOMIZED-PRODUCT MECHANICS COMPLIES WITH THE LAWS OF ANY JURISDICTION. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING YOUR OWN LEGAL ADVICE REGARDING THE LEGALITY OF YOUR OFFERS. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL KOIN OR ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE APP OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER BASED ON CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM (OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100) IF YOU USE THE FREE PLAN). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Koin and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the App; (b) the products, mystery boxes, and offers you create or sell; (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law, including gambling, lottery, prize promotion, consumer protection, or data protection laws; (d) any dispute between you and your customers; or (e) Your Data.
15. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify store. Uninstalling does not automatically entitle you to a refund of fees already charged. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if required by law, if your Shopify account is suspended or terminated, or if we discontinue the App. Upon termination, your license to use the App ends immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 18) will survive.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page, update the "Last updated" date, and take any other steps required by applicable law. Material changes are effective upon posting or as otherwise stated in the notice. Your continued use of the App after the revised Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of them. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App and uninstall it.
17. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vietnam, unless applicable law in your place of residence requires otherwise.
18. General
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any plan descriptions in the Shopify App Store listing, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and us.
